As men, we are hardwired for relentless pursuits, the unending quest for significance, and being seekers of a higher calling. For us, it's about the pursuit, the chase and the hunt. What is the trait and characteristic that separates high performers from the average man?
The ability to exercise curiosity, be committed to continued development and growth are all differentiators of those who excel in life.
As Christian men, our focus is not just on any action, any chase, any ambition. Our pursuit should be directed towards an undying determination that leads to the kingdom of God.
If you are a disciple of Jesus Christ, this should be your aim. Many of us talk about expansion and taking dominion, but it requires us to follow two essential principles.
Firstly, we must submit to Jesus, to the Lord, to the Holy Spirit. As we yield, we allow Him to expand within us, to occupy more space within our hearts. Only then comes the second principle: expanding our sphere of influence for His glory.
But are we letting the Lord take more ground within us? Are we saying, "Lord, you can have more of my ambition, my will?"
Without Submission, We are Not Qualified to Take Dominion in Life
So, one may wonder, what should we seek as Kingdom men? To answer this, we turn Proverbs 25:2 which says,
"It is the glory of God to conceal a matter. But the glory of kings is to search out a matter."
This tells us there is glory in seeking, in investigating, and in revealing the truth.
Drawing from my background in the corporate world, interestingly, the answer lies in curiosity. The best performers exhibit a high curiosity quotient, an unquenchable thirst for growth.
So instead of letting this curiosity drive us towards ephemeral material possessions, why not channel it to seek wisdom and understanding?
Unsurprisingly, we find an instruction in Proverbs 3, highlighting the bliss of finding wisdom and urging us to seek it (verse 3). In the quest for wisdom, we should adopt an aggressive stance and seek the Lord while He can be found.
Wisdom is the Game-Changer
I'd go so far as to say that it's kept me on the right path. Wisdom has paved the way for me to invest my time wisely, and it's the driving force behind my constant dialogues with God. So, let wisdom guide your pursuits. Jesus Christ is wisdom; He gives us divine, spiritual wisdom that transforms lives upon application.
Surround yourself with wisdom. Like King Solomon, let wisdom be your guide for ruling and reigning in life. Seek wisdom, pursue God, expand His kingdom.
